"Redemption for Holmes and the Steelers"

What else would I write about on this beautiful Monday morning after the Superbowl? Well, for anyone that did not watch the game, it was a close one that had me biting my nails until the last 13 seconds. I was cheering for the Cardinals, as I always choose to go for the underdog since the Huskers haven't made it to a Superbowl in only God knows how long. Anyways, the article I read in the New York Times this morning was just a quick recap of the game last night along with some comments from the winning team, the Steelers.

I was happy to see the Cardinals keep the game so close and not allow themselves to be stomped on by the 5-time-superbowl-winning steelers. The only problem I had was the three personal fouls that the Cardinals managed to stack against themselves during a single drive and poor old Warner choking during the third quarter and throwing three terrible passes in a row. I was proud and screaming like a maniac when Fitzgerald made that long run straight down the middle and through 3 Pittsburg players to score the touchdown that put them in the lead and I yelled and cursed at the tv when one of the Steelers was unnecessarily rough with one of the Cardinals. I was scolded by my grandfather who sleeps in the basement for jumping up and down above his room and given a dirty look from my mother for yelling at the tv while she was on the phone.

While the game itself was a good one, I especially enjoyed it because it was a special time that I got to share with my father, who was scolded along with me and yelled and cursed more excessively at the tv than I did. I do have a 14 year old brother, but football isn't really his thing. I, on the other hand, grew up on football and was a severe daddy's girl, so it was too much fun to catch up with my dad and bond through the game. Hopefully I don't have to wait until the next Superbowl to have that much fun with my family again.
