The article I read today was on Obama's first day as President. He seems to have a good idea of what he is planning to do for the Nation and he started by freezing the salaries of those working in the White House. When asked about this new order, he said "Families are tightening their belts, so should Washington." The rest of the article went on to explain the rest of his day and what he was planning to do through the rest of the week.
I really enjoyed this article. I am so proud of our new President and it is only his first day. He seems to have good ideas for the U.S. and he does not seem like the type to be easily swayed. Not only is he making sure that those in the White House do not get salary raises, but he has already contacted the leaders of the Middle East and is already working for a solution there. However, it is only his first day and if I remember correctly, Americans were just as optimistic about Mr. Bush. That did not work out as well as everyone had hoped. Hopefully President Obama has learned something from his successor and will not make the same mistakes. I guess I am optimistic about Mr. Obama as President, but it is only his first day. Only time will tell if he is as genuine as the Nation has perceived him. After reading this article I am confident in our new President, but that does not prevent me from wondering if he will do well in his position or even doubting if all he has planned will work out. I guess I will just keep my fingers crossed.
With high hopes,
Kristina
